The 2024 list for Construction Law highlights practitioners who represent general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and property owners with issues ranging from defects in a project’s construction to negotiating contracts to enforcing and collecting promised payments. David Dick is a lead trial lawyer with a track record of success across a diverse array of claims, including construction and real estate disputes, business tort, and significant property damage and personal injury cases. Immigration Law category: “Fatima Khan’s immigration practice serves clients ranging from multinational corporations to religious institutions seeking international talent. She assists corporate clients with I-9 compliance, Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security audits, while also handling individual cases involving family-based sponsorships and naturalization. She serves on the World Affairs Council of St. Louis board of directors and was elected president of the South Asian Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis in 2021.”
Michele Kloeppel, Partner
Mergers & Acquisitions category: “Michele Kloeppel has represented clients in mergers and acquisitions ranging between $15 million and $600 million. Kloeppel co-chairs the firm’s corporate and securities practice group. She co-led the attorney team that represented manufacturing company Federal Signal Corporation in an approximate $110 million sale of a business segment to 3M in 2011, and FSC’s acquisition of a distributorship for about $83 million. She also represented a public company in three acquisitions ranging between $5 million and $35 million in information technology businesses.”

Sports & Entertainment Law category: “Mark Sableman has devoted his career to intellectual property, media and information technology law. He counts many news organizations as clients, including the Missouri Broadcasters Association, whose board of directors he served on for 17 years. In 2020, he won a ruling in the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals striking down Missouri rules that had restricted advertising of alcohol prices, in violation of the First Amendment. He has litigated cases ranging from copyright and trademark matters to Internet-related claims.”
Booker T. Shaw, Partner
Appellate Law category: “Booker Shaw served on the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District in 2002 to 2009. Now he brings that experience to bear on cases that range from a credit card company’s tax refund to the effect of a juror’s nondisclosure on a $19 million wrongful death verdict to a recent case involving pre-sale and post-sale notifications on a repossessed vehicle. In 2016, Shaw was on a task force that worked to reform the state’s municipal courts. He also chaired a group of retired judges that reviewed the death penalty over inmate Marcellus Williams, though the body was recently dissolved.”
