White was most recently Director of Diversity Initiatives and Civic Engagement, and Mathews served as Chief Diversity Officer and Assistant General Counsel. The firm’s long-time General Counsel Erwin (Erv) O. Switzer remains in the Office of General Counsel as Assistant General Counsel.

“Carmen has had a significant impact on the growth and success of our diversity initiatives during her time with the firm,” said Kevin T. Scott P. Kadish, Co-Managing Partner, added, “We appreciate the contributions Alvin made while leading the firm’s diversity efforts and serving as Assistant General Counsel. We are thrilled to elevate him to full-time General Counsel. We also thank Erv for his service as GC for more than a decade and are pleased that he will continue in the Office of General Counsel as Alvin takes the helm.”

As Chief Diversity Officer, White leads the firm’s DEIB initiatives to recruit and advance a diverse workforce, create a supportive and inclusive environment, and support the diversity efforts of local communities. Combining her vast experience in the legal industry with previous experience developing and implementing equity and human rights policy initiatives, she works to achieve meaningful and impactful change within the firm, the legal industry, and the community.

Mathews, a former Assistant Disciplinary Counsel in the Office of Disciplinary Counsel for the Supreme Court of Ohio, is recognized as a lawyer’s lawyer who has been called upon to represent solo practitioners, in-house counsel, and law firms on a variety of ethics and professional liability matters. During the course of his legal career, he has been asked to provide representation on hundreds of legal ethics advisory opinions and lawyer discipline case investigations.
