ST. LOUIS — Husband and wife are suing a trucking company and its driver, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Kathleen Reagan and Zachary Reagan filed a complaint on March 22, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against CRC Transport LLC and Vladimir Zmeu alleging that they violated the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and safe trucking industry standards.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 27, 2016, Zmeu was operating a tractor-trailer within the course and scope of his employment with defendant CRC Transport, when he crashed into the back of plaintiff Kathleen Reagan's vehicle on Interstate 57 in Charleston. As a result, she injured her head and cervical and lumbar areas of the spine and has suffered lost wages and medical expenses in excess of $425,000. Zachary Reagan has lost the care, comfort and society of his wife.
The plaintiffs hold CRC Transport and Zmeu responsible because Zmeu allegedly failed to operate the tractor-trailer in a careful and prudent manner, failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision and failed to keep a proper lookout.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages in a sum in excess of $1 million, plus costs and interest and for such other relief this Court deems just and proper. They are represented by Stephen R. Schultz and Joshua P. Myers of Schultz Myers LLC in St. Louis.
