ST. LOUIS — A musician is suing the lead singer of One Less Reason for alleged copyright infringement.

Samuel Baker filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Christopher Brown alleging that the defendant violated the Copyright Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 19, 2016, he claims his original song "Something Beautiful" was released by the defendant on his studio album "The Memories Uninvited." The plaintiff alleges he never gave permission and written consent to reproduce, distribute copies and publicly perform the song. The plaintiff holds Christopher Brown responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to obtain permission, consent or a license to use the plaintiff's song for any purpose.

The plaintiff seeks a permanent injunction to stop using the song, an award of monetary damages and such further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Erick F. Kayira of Kayira Law LLC in Clayton.
