ST. LOUIS — A female probation and parole assistant is suing a community release center under a state agency, citing alleged failure to protect her from sexual abuse and retaliation for asserting her rights.

Sandra Harris filed a complaint on April 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against St. Louis Community Release Center, state of Missouri Department of Corrections and its director, Anne L. Precythe, alleging that they violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that starting on April 11, 2016, she suffered sexual harassment by a supervisor in front of her co-workers. She also claims she was forced to work in an environment that caused physical and emotional illness due to having to clean toilets and filthy areas of the facility, which was not part of her job description. Despite reporting the incident to the human resources department, Harris continues to work alongside her supervisor, Jeremy Shaw, and repeatedly experiences sexual harassment and abuse.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide a safe and equal working environment to female employees, failed to act consistently and effectively to deter the illegal actions of its male employees and encouraged the false charges made by another male employee to plaintiff as a retaliation for asserting her rights.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in a sum commensurate with the pain and suffering, emotional distress and embarrassment caused the plaintiff and any other relief deems just and proper. She is represented by Sandra Moore-Dyson of Sandra Moore-Dyson Attorney-at-Law in St. Louis.
