ST. LOUIS — A program distributor is suing a St. Louis lounge owner, citing alleged unlawful broadcasting.

J & J Sports Productions Inc. filed a complaint on April 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Vernon Gray, individually and doing business as Crocodile Lounge LLC, and Crocodile Lounge LLC, an unknown business entity doing business as The Crocodile Lounge, alleging that they violated the Communications Act of 1934.

According to the complaint on May 3, 2014, the plaintiff was the nationwide exclusive distributor of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Rene Maidana, WBC Welterweight Championship Fight program. The plaintiff alleges that due to the defendants' unlawful actions, it has suffered monetary damages for not receiving royalty payments. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly willfully supervised and/or authorized the broadcasting of plaintiff's program to increase their profits.

The plaintiff seeks statutory damages of $110,000 against each defendant, attorneys’ fees and costs for this action and such other just and proper relief. It is represented by Thomas P. Riley of Law Offices of Thomas P. Riley PC in South Pasadena, California.
