ST. LOUIS — A sports event management company is suing a Florissant commercial establishment owner, citing alleged unauthorized interception and tortious conversion.

J & J Sports Productions Inc. filed a complaint on April 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri Eastern Division against Karen West, individually and doing business as Sound Bar, and Stealth Management Group LLC, alleging that the defendants violated the Communications Act of 1934 and the Cable and Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 3, 2014, Sound Bar owner West specifically directed or permitted the employees of her commercial establishment to broadcast the plaintiff's program featuring the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Rene Maidana fight. The program, which is exclusively distributed only to the plaintiff, was aired in the defendant's premises without legal consent that resulted to monetary damages for not receiving royalty payments.

The plaintiff holds West, individually and doing business as Sound Bar, and Stealth Management Group responsible because the defendants allegedly allegedly unlawfully intercepted and broadcasted the plaintiff’s program to increase profits.

The plaintiff seeks statutory damages of $110,000 against each defendant, attorneys’ fees and costs for this action and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Thomas P. Riley of Law Offices of Thomas P. Riley PC in South Pasadena, California.
