ST. LOUIS — An associate employee from Alton, Illinois, is suing a retail store, citing alleged age discrimination.
Jeffrey C. Ursch filed a complaint on June 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Cabela's Inc. and Cabela's Retail Mo LLC, alleging the defendants violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 2, 2016, he was discharged from his employment with the defendants after working for almost six years and was allegedly replaced with a younger employee younger than 40 who was less qualified.
The plaintiff holds Cabela's responsible because the defendant allegedly discharged plaintiff because he is over the age of 40, replaced him with a younger employee who is unqualified for the position and refused to re-hire the plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks general damages in the amount of $500,000, recovery of nominal and liquidated damages, attorney's fees, costs and such other and further relief that the court deems equitable and just. He is represented by Brian Bendick and Matthew H. Hearne of Hearne and Bendrick LLC in St. Louis.
