ST. LOUIS — A former housekeeper is suing St. Louis-area companies, citing alleged gender harassment and retaliation.

Karleascha Pegee filed a complaint June 12 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Scottrade Center; ABM Onsite Services-Midwest, Inc.; Patriot Commercial Cleaning LLC and Levy Restaurants at Scottrade Center alleging that the defendants violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2016, she was subjected to unwanted sexual advances by one of the defendants' employees. The plaintiff claims she immediately rejected the advances and reported the harassment to her supervisor. She was called into a meeting and decided to transfer to another department with a reduction of hours and a lower pay. As a result, Pegee claims the working conditions became intolerable and she had no choice but to resign from her employment on Feb. 6, 2016.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to make good-faith efforts to establish and enforce policies to prevent illegal discrimination by employees and failed to properly train and/or otherwise inform their supervisors and employees concerning their duties and obligations under the civil rights laws.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory, nominal, and/or punitive damages in such an amount in excess of $25,000, attorneys' fees, costs, interest, and for such other and further relief deems just and proper. She is represented by Jeremy Hollingshead of Hollingshead & Dudley in St. Louis.
