ST. LOUIS — A woman is suing a discount store with a location in St. Louis, citing alleged negligence in maintaining premises.

Antionette Hodges filed a complaint on June 21, in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Family Dollars Stores of Missouri Inc., South Side Spaces LLC and JAD Productions, LLC, alleging that the defendants failed its duty of ordinary care to inspect for and remediate dangerous and defective conditions on the premises.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 26, 2012, while at the defendant's location, she suffered an injury to her left foot after the door, which had a wrought iron bar attached to it, closed behind her and hit her foot. As a result, Hodges claims she suffered physical injuries, pain and medical bills.

The plaintiff holds Family Dollars Stores of Missouri, South Side Spaces and JAD Productions responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn of, inspect for or otherwise remove the broken doorstop to avoid causing injuries.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages in an amount greater than $25,000 for costs of action and for any and all relief the court deems equitable and just. She is represented by Kyle Kleefus of Law Offices of Derald I. Gab PC in St. Louis.
