Woman alleges she was injured when Lakeview Freight driver struck her vehicle

Car accident 09

ST. LOUIS — A woman is suing a freight company and vehicle driver for alleged negligence while driving.

Erin Patton filed a complaint June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against Lakeview Freight LLC and driver Leonard Boogaard alleging that the defendants failed its duty of care to members of the general public while using the public roadways.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 9, 2014, while driving on Interstate 70 near the intersection with Cave Springs Drive in St. Charles County, she his vehicle was struck in the rear by Boogaard while driving for Lakeview Freight. As a result, Patton claims she suffered physical injuries, pain and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Boogaard allegedly failed to control the commercial vehicle, failed to sound a warning of his approach, drove his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed and failed to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages in excess of $75,000 for costs incurred, and for such other relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Patrick T. Hinrichs of The Bradley Law Firm in St. Louis.
