ST. LOUIS — Trustees of a labor group are suing an owner of the interior/exterior finishing company, citing alleged violation of workers compensation acts.

St, Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council, Renee Bell, Ken Stricker, Robert Calhoun, et al. filed a complaint July 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri Eastern Division against Christopher Semar, doing business as CKS Woodworks, alleging the defendant violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as the defendant's employees bound by the collective-bargaining agreement, they failed to receive contributions for employee pension trust, the welfare trust and vacation fund benefit plan.

The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible because he allegedly failed and refused to make all obligated contributions to the funds and to forward to the union all the deducted dues.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek to order perform its contractual obligation, award for attorney's fees, costs, accounting, auditing, administrative costs and other relief the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Greg A. Campbell of Hammon and Shinners PC in St. Louis.
