ST. LOUIS — An individual is suing Bi-State d/b/a Metro, citing the alleged failure to keep the bus safe for passengers.
Eunice Rivers filed a complaint on July 12 in the St. Louis City Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise safety measures to keep the bus and ramp safe.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was in a wheelchair scooter while boarding a bus owned by the defendant on Sept. 25, 2013 when she claims the bus operator improperly operated the wheelchair ramp, causing her to fall out of her wheelchair scooter. As a result, Rivers claims she suffered physical injuries and medical expenses amounting to $1,413.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly operate the wheelchair ramp and failing to properly train its employees on how to use the wheelchair ramp.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensation in an amount that exceeds $25,000, with cost of suit and such other relief the court deems fair and just. She is represented by Melvin J. Smith of Melvin J. Smith & Associates in St. Louis.
