ST. LOUIS — A pedestrian is suing the Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District d/b/a Metro and employee Cornell Richardson for alleged negligence.

John Thomas Kennedy filed a complaint on July 18 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that Bi-State negligently maintained its bus with physical defects.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was walking on Barnes Jewish Hospital Parkway on Jan. 31, 2017 when he was struck by a bus driven by Richardson. He was knocked to the ground and suffered injuries to his right forearm, left hip and left knee. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Richardson allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout and maintain a safe driving distance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $25,000 plus costs and interest and all other relief the court may deem just. He is represented by Christopher T. Risler of Risler Law Firm in Clayton.
