ST. LOUIS — A woman is suing Walgreens for alleged negligence.

Sara Bean filed a complaint on July 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, alleging that the defendant negligently failed to use the necessary degree of skill and learning expected of pharmacists.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her son suffered respiratory failure, cardiac failure, conscious pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses on July 3, 2016. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to follow the prescription ordered by a physician, resulting in a methadone overdose.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $75,000, plus interest, costs and all other relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Douglas P. Dowd and Lia Obata Dowd of Dowd & Dowd PC in St. Louis.
