Patient claims she failed to receive proper care for foot wound from doctors, St. Louis hospital

Medical malpractice 02

ST. LOUIS — A patient is suing doctors and a hospital for alleged permanent injuries suffered due to medical malpractice.

Dr. Timur Galperin, Dr. Adam Merando, Dr. Hiral Choksi, Dr. Philip H. Fung et al. filed a complaint in St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court alleging that the defendants failed their duty to provide the proper medical care as expected from them.

According to the complaint, between Aug. 13, 2015, and Sept. 2, 2015, the plaintiff was a patient of the defendants for a wound on the bottom of the heel of her right foot. The plaintiff claims during her stay at St. Louis University Hospital, she underwent right ankle disarticulation due to a pre-operative diagnosis of septic right foot infection with necrotic soft tissue that would require a below-knee amputation.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly monitor, diagnose and treat her wound; failed to make an early recognition of infection upon the first signs and symptoms; and failed to timely request an infectious disease surgical consult to treat her right foot wound.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount that is fair and reasonable under all the circumstances, in excess of $25,000 together with costs expended. She is represented by Leonard P. Cervantes, Phillip A. Cervantes and Jennifer L. Suttmoeller of Cervantes & Associates in St. Louis.
