Daughter sues Washington University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital for mother's death

ST. LOUIS — A daughter is suing health care providers, citing alleged medical malpractice and wrongful death.

Hazel Clark, as wrongful death beneficiary for her mother, Willie Mae Clark, deceased, filed a complaint Aug. 23 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, alleging they failed to properly assess and treat the decedent's medical condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendants' negligence, Willie Mae Clark suffered decubitus ulcers, skin breakdown, infection, malnutrition, dehydration and complications of infection and sepsis. She died Oct. 29, 2015. The plaintiff holds Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide necessary preventive measures and failed to provide proper nutrition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs expended for this action. She is represented by Robert H. Pedroli Jr. of Pedroli & Gauthier LLC in Clayton.
