Woman blames Heavy Iron Haulers driver for St. Louis crash

ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing a trucking company, citing alleged negligent entrustment.

Nija Dow filed a complaint on Aug. 21 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Heavy Iron Haulers LLC, alleging it negligently entrusted its semitrailer truck to a careless driver.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 28, 2016, she was severely and permanently injured when her vehicle was struck by the defendant's semitrailer truck driven by employee Thomas Banks. Dow claims she sustained injuries to her neck and shoulder and incurred medical expenses, lost earnings and suffered disability in the St. Louis crash.

The plaintiff holds Heavy Iron Haulers responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to exercise ordinary care in operating the semitrailer truck.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount greater than $25,000, plus costs for this action. She is represented by Brandon L. Williams of The Williams Block LLC in St. Louis.
