ST. LOUIS — A worker is suing former employers, citing alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful discharge.

William E. Mayer filed a complaint Aug. 24 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Vaccaro and Sons Produce Inc., Dale Vaccaro, Dean Vaccaro and Kojo Mends, alleging they violated the workers' compensation law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 20, 2015, he was injured while working and filed workers' compensation claim. A doctor's order for him to be on light duty with note, but he claims the defendants ignored it. The plaintiff holds Vaccaro and Sons Produce, Dale Vaccaro, Dean Vaccaro and Mends responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodations, retaliated against him and terminated his employment for filing workers' compensation claim for his injury. Mayer claims he has suffered lost wages and employment benefits, mental anguish and humiliation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, prejudgment interest and other relief. He is represented by Gregory Kloeppel of The Kloeppel Law Firm in St. Louis.
