ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing another motorist for allegedly making an abrupt U-turn, violating a stop sign.

Richard Poe filed a complaint Sept. 1 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Richard Buckhold, alleging the defendant failed to operate his vehicle in a safe manner in a way that would not carelessly, recklessly and negligently cause injury or damages to others lawfully using the roadway.

According to the complaint, Poe alleges that on Aug. 16, 2016, he was driving southbound on Parnell Street near the intersection with Sullivan Avenue in St. Louis when his vehicle was struck in the passenger side by Buckhold's vehicle. The suit states when he allegedly made an abrupt U-turn at an intersection. As a result, Poe claims he suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Buckhold responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic and failed to swerve his vehicle to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for losses and damages in excess of $25,000, plus costs expended and other relief the court deems just. He is represented by Thomas Traube of Sorrell & Traube in St. Louis.
