Almost Home accused of wrongful termination

Wrongful term 01

ST. LOUIS — A former employee is suing a non-profit and a number of former co-workers, citing alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Arletha Phillips filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Almost Home, Rhonda Grey, Chantel Singleton and Jennifer Prior, alleging that they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during her tenure with Almost Home, her co-workers and subordinates subjected her to unwelcome sexual harassment. She was terminated on April 1, 2016, and allegedly suffered loss of income and self-esteem, emotional distress, and humiliation. The plaintiff claims the defendants allegedly subjected her to unlawful discrimination, a hostile work environment, retaliation and termination for reporting sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury, and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, attorney fees, costs and all other equitable relief as the court may allow. She is represented by Steven A. Donner and Thomas Applewhite of Donner Applewhite, Attorneys at Law in St. Louis.
