ST. LOUIS — A woman is suing a retailer for alleged negligence in keeping its shopping carts a safe condition.
Anna Abbacchi filed a complaint in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Target Corp., doing business as Target Hampton Village Store, alleging it failed its duty to use reasonable care to cure and warn of dangerous conditions on its premises.
According to the complaint, Abbacchi alleges that on Nov. 1, 2016, she was returning to her car after shopping at a St. Louis Target when the shopping cart wheels locked, causing her to lose her balance, fall and sustain injury. As a result, Abbacchi claims she suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly remove the hazard, failed to warn invitees of the hazard and failed to barricade the area where hazard was located.
The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount that will fairly and reasonably compensate for injuries, costs incurred and for other relief as the court deems equitable. She is represented by Brian Stokes of The Stokes Law Office in St. Louis.
