St. Louis attorney accuses other driver of failing to yield

Car accident 14

ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing another motorist, citing alleged negligence.

Brian Stokes filed a complaint Sept. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against William Connor Usry, alleging he breached his duty to exercise the highest degree of care for the safety of the public.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 30, he was stopped at a light on Eighth Street at Market Street, when the defendant, who was alongside the curb, pulled out, striking the plaintiff's vehicle and causing property damage. The plaintiff claims he has lost the use of his vehicle, was inconvenienced and incurred repair costs and transportation expenses. The plaintiff holds Usry responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to yield the right of way.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court and further relief the court deems equitable. The plaintiff is an attorney of The Stokes Law Office in St. Louis and is representing himself.
