Husband claims Missouri companies, others didn't warn of asbestos dangers

Asbestos 13

ST. LOUIS — A couple alleges that exposure to asbestos caused the husband to develop lung cancer.

Jimmie Garringer and Sandra Garringer filed a complaint Aug. 31 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against ABP Induction LLC; AFC-Holcroft LLC; ALFA Lava Inc., formerly known as Delaval, et. al. alleging that the defendants used asbestos fibers that were highly toxic and harmful to the health.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between 1965 and 1990, Jimmie Garringer worked as a laborer at various companies and served in the Navy. He alleges he was exposed to and inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. He first became aware that he had developed lung cancer on April 15, 2015, the suit states.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide warnings of the dangers of inhaling, ingesting or otherwise absorbing the asbestos fibers to people working with and around the products.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for damages in an amount of more than $50,000. They are represented by Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville, Illinois.
