ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man is suing a driver and an insurer, citing alleged negligence and refusal to pay.

Eric Lewis filed a complaint in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Raymond Vickers and Country Mutual Insurance Co., alleging they failed to make an offer to settle the plaintiff's damages.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 11, 2016, he was severely injured when Vickers' vehicle struck him. On March 8, he formally made an offer to settle his claim arising from the injuries and damages he sustained. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to respond to the plaintiff's offer and refused to negotiate within the given deadline.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for punitive damages, plus interest, costs and further relief the court deems proper. He is represented by Ryan M. Smith and Daniel R. Brown of Smith Brown LLC in Overland.
