ST. LOUIS — A man is suing a property owner, citing alleged negligence.
William Heinemann filed a complaint in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Historic Lemp Brewery LLC, alleging it failed to maintain the exterior area of their property in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 23, 2014, he was walking down the exterior steps at the defendant's property when a portion of the step broke away and caused him to fall. He sustained injuries to his back with radiating pain to his lower extremities, requiring surgical intervention, the complaint states. The plaintiff holds Historic Lemp Brewery responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately inspect and repair the exterior of the building and failed to provide adequate warning of the broken stairway.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, costs of court and other relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Robert S. Merlin and Sarah H. Hale of Ray B. Marglous PC in Clayton.
