ST. LOUIS — A child and her mother are suing a driver, citing alleged negligence driving, which resulted in hitting a pedestrian.

Wisdom X. Woodfork, a minor by her next friend Dawnisha Y. Morrow, filed a complaint Sept. 27 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Terhonda N. Brown, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise the highest degree of care while operating her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 15, 2016, Woodfork was walking away from an ice cream truck parked on Minnesota Avenue in St. Louis when she was struck by Brown's vehicle. The suit claims she was thrown into the air and hit the defendant's windshield.

As a result, Woodfork was seriously injured, lost the ability to enjoy life and incurred medical expenses, the complaint states.

The plaintiffs hold Brown responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to yield the right of way and failed to stop, swerved, slow her speed or sound a warning to alert a pedestrian.

The plaintiffs seek judgment in an amount of more than $25,000 for costs expended and for other relief the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Tiffany L. Norris of Miller & Steeno PC in St. Louis.
