ST. LOUIS — A driver is suing another motorist, citing alleged negligence.

Nicole Hicks filed a complaint Sept. 26 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Gwendyln E. Cowan, alleging that the other motorist breached her duty to exercise ordinary care in operating her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 5, she was driving in St. Louis when the defendant negligently crashed her vehicle into the rear of the plaintiff's vehicle. She sustained injuries resulting in great pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Cowan responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout, followed the plaintiff's vehicle too closely and failed to apply brakes in a timely manner to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, costs of this action and whatever other remedy as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton, Illinois.
