Man claims St. Louis County Cab driver failed to yield to traffic

Car accident 16

ST. LOUIS — A motorist is suing a minivan driver and cab company, citing alleged negligence.

Dmitri Gipson filed a complaint on Sept. 25 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against St. Louis County Cab Co. Inc. and Carl Meriwether, alleging the defendants failed their duty to exercise ordinary care in operation and maintenance of its vehicle to avoid injuring others and their property.

According to the complaint, Gipson alleges that on July 13, 2014, he was driving eastbound on Page Boulevard near the intersection of Vandeventer Avenue when his vehicle was struck by Meriwether's minivan while he was working for St. Louis County Cab.

As a result, Gipson claims he suffered serious physical injuries, lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Meriwether allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic, operated the vehicle at an excessive and dangerous rate of speed and failed to obey the rules of the road.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in a sum in excess of $25,000 for injuries along with court costs incurred and other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Brent A. Sumner of The Sumner Law Group LLC in Clayton.
