ST. LOUIS — A tenant is suing property operators, citing alleged negligence in keeping a St. Louis property safe.
Ann C. Jacobs filed a complaint Sept. 26 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Rodemyer-Christel, Inc. and Edward Boeschenstein, alleging the defendants failed their duty by using ordinary care in maintaining and removing dangerous and defective substances in the premises.
According to the complaint, Jacobs alleges that on July 18, 2016, she was entering the defendants' premises where she lives when she slipped on a slick substance on the floor at the entrance. As a result, Jacobs claims she suffered injuries that required medical treatment, causing her to incur hospital expenses.
The plaintiff holds Rodemyer-Christel and Boeschenstein responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn of the unsafe nature of the floor, failed to properly maintain the floor and failed to barricade the dangerous area of the floor.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $25,000 and for other relief the court deems reasonable. She is represented by Shaun M. Falvey of Goldblatt + Singer in Clayton.
