ST. LOUIS — A husband and wife are suing products manufacturers, citing alleged negligence.

James E. Russell and Wanda Russell filed a complaint Sept. 22 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Anheuser-Busch LLC, Baker Hughes Inc., Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC and others, alleging they breached their duties to exercise ordinary care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that during James Russell's employment from 1963 to 1999, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. On March 14, 2016, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and later learned it was due to asbestos exposure, the plaintiffs claim.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages of more than $25,000 and any further relief the court deems just. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville, Illinois.
