ST. LOUIS — A Kendall County, Illinois, man is suing a St. Louis casino and hotel for allegedly keeping the premises understaffed, resulting in injuries.

Mariusz Rogalski filed a complaint Oct. 4 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against PNK (River City) LLC, River City Casino and River City Casino & Hotel, alleging that the defendants failed to provide the highest degree of care for the customers inside the premises of the casino.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 26, 2014, he was sitting at the poker table when an employee allegedly spilled boiling coffee on his body from behind.

As a result, Rogalski claims he suffered second-degree burns, loss of mobility and weeks of blisters that left him with medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly staff the casino and were severely understaffed at the time of the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $25,000 to compensate for the injuries, costs incurred, and for any such further relief as the Court deems just and proper. He is represented by Nicholas P. Llewellyn II of Law Offices of Nicholas P. Llewellyn II in St. Louis.
