Driver sued over collision at St. Louis intersection

Car accident 25

ST. LOUIS — A minor, represented by her mother, is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a collision while attempting to make a left turn at an intersection.

Nermin Mujkic filed a complaint on behalf of Nina Mujkic on Oct. 4, in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Andrew Dreste, alleging that the defendant operated his vehicle in a manner that caused the collision.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 3, 2016, Nina Mujkic was a passenger traveling southbound on Hampton Avenue near the intersection with Jamieson Avenue when the vehicle was struck by Dreste's vehicle. The defendant had attempted to turn left on northbound Hampton Avenue, according to the complaint. As a result, Nina Mujkic suffered physical injuries, the complaint says.

The plaintiffs hold Dreste responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to slow or swerve to avoid the collision.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for damages and for relief the court deems proper. They are represented by J. Ryan Kelly of Stephens Kelly LLC in St. Louis.
