Mother, son sue driver after collision on Goodfellow Boulevard

Car accident 35

ST. LOUIS — A mother and son are suing the driver of the car they were riding in, alleging that his negligence led to an injury collision.

Shonice Crusoe, individually and on behalf of her son, Sean Gilmore, a minor, filed the complaint on Oct. 17 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Owens, alleging that Howard Owens failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle he was driving.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 19, 2017, Crusoe and her son were passengers in a motor vehicle being driven along Goodfellow Boulevard by the defendant when they collided with another vehicle in front of them. They sustained injuries to their heads, necks and other parts of their bodies and suffered medical expenses, physical and mental pain, disability and disfigurement.

The plaintiff holds Owens responsible because the defendant allegedly drove his vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable while operating a mobile device and failed to maintain a careful lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest, costs and all other relief that the court may deem proper. They are represented by Mark T. McCloskey and Patricia N. McCloskey of McCloskey P.C. in St. Louis.
