Motorist accuses St. Louis employee of driving too fast, causing accident

ST. LOUIS — A motorist is suing a St. Louis city employee, citing alleged negligence.

Thomas W. Slane filed a complaint in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Roland DeGregorio, alleging he failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle he was driving.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 27, he was driving northbound on South Broadway near the intersection with Illinois Avenue when suddenly DeGregorio, who was in the course of his employment with the city of St. Louis, struck the rear of Slane's vehicle. 

The plaintiff holds DeGregorio and the city of St. Louis responsible because DeGregorio allegedly failed to maintain a careful lookout and negligently drove the vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable, causing it to struck the rear of his vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus costs of this action and any further relief that is necessary and just. He is represented by Christopher K. Geldmacher of Sauter Sullivan LLC in St. Louis.
