ST. LOUIS — A mother is suing a footwear company, citing alleged negligence.

Kennedy Ituen, a minor by and through her next friend Emem Ituen, filed a complaint Oct. 13 in the St Louis Circuit Court against BBC International LLC, alleging it negligently manufactured and sold a defective merchandise.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 12, her child was trying on a pair of riding boots purchased from the defendant online. While trying on the shoes, Ituen claims her child injured her left foot due to a staple protruding from the inside of the boot. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to inspect and discover the dangerous condition of the boots and make it safe.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant and for any further relief as the court may deem just and proper.
