ST. LOUIS — A couple claims that a medical facility's negligence resulted in injuries.

Kenneth Storla and Christina Storla filed a complaint Oct. 17 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against St. Louis University, doing business as SLUcare, alleging it failed to properly perform surgery, which resulted in further complications.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 11, 2016, Kenneth Storla went to the defendant for an L4-5 decompression and foraminotomy surgery. He claims the nerves in his back were damaged during the surgery, which gave him constant lower back pain, numbness, erectile dysfunction, bowel dysfunction and sensory loss. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to timely identify and remove a post-operative fluid collection at the L4-L5 vertebrae.

He claims he suffered permanent injuries and further medical expenses, which caused his wife, Christina Storla, to lose the support and care of her husband as a result.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in sum as may be fair and reasonable in the premises, but in excess of $25,000, together with costs expended. They are represented by Brian D. Kurth of Meyerkord & Meyerkord LLC in St. Louis and Jonathan McAllister of McAllister Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
