ST. LOUIS – A woman formerly employed by a St. Louis restaurant alleges she was subjected to harassment and that her gender was a factor in her termination.

Elisha Velis filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Dado's Cafe Inc. and Nick Avouris alleging that they violated the Missouri Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was subjected to repeated uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances from Dado's Cafe cook staff and offensive and humiliating comments from Avouris. She alleges she reported the behavior and nothing was done. The suit states she was terminated in October 2016 and she alleges her gender was a factor in her termination.

The plaintiff seeks back pay and benefits, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs and any other relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by George O. Suggs of Schuchat, Cook & Werner in St. Louis.
