ST. LOUIS — A bus passenger is suing Larry Metz and J. B. Hunt Logistics Inc., a truck driver and the vehicle's owner, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Elvira Pirtle filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that Metz failed to keep his vehicle under proper control.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 17, 2016, she was a passenger in a Bi-State Gillig bus when Metz, who was operating a motor vehicle owned by J. B. Hunt, caused it to hit the bus. She allegedly sustained serious and permanent injuries to her head, neck, shoulder and back; and has incurred medical bills of approximately $9,679.41.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Metz allegedly failed to keep vigilant and careful lookout, and failed to stop at the first appearance of danger.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment against the defendants in excess of $25,000, costs of court, and such other and further relief that are appropriate under the circumstances. She is represented by Ray B. Marglous, Robert S. Merlin and Sarah H. Hale of Ray B. Marglous PC in St. Louis.
