4 more consumers allege Roundup causes cancer

ST. LOUIS — Consumers are suing Monsanto Co. Osborn & Barr Communications Inc., and Osborn & Barr Holdings Inc., biotechnology company and distributors, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Gerald Bailey, Penny Harlran Creech, Gregory Perry and Lawrence Talley filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they falsely represented that the herbicide Roundup creates no unreasonable risk to human heath and to the environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as a result of their exposure to Roundup, which contains the active ingredient glyphosate, they were caused to develop multiple myeloma and other types cancers. They allege they have suffered and will continue to suffer grave injuries, pain, discomfort, economic hardship, and medical care and treatment expenses.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly negligently manufactured and distributed Roundup with full knowledge that it was dangerous and defective, and failed to provide adequate warnings and proper directions about the dangers associated with using it.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury; and seek compensatory and exemplary damages of more than $25,000 and such other relief deemed just, proper and equitable. They are represented by James G. Onder, W. Wylie Blair and Mark E. Burns of Onder Law LLC in St. Louis.
