Roofer blamed for more than $80,000 in water damage to home

Contract 01

ST. LOUIS — An insurance company is suing a roofing contractor, alleging breach of contract.

National Surety Corporation filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Kirk Allen Gregg, d/b/a Super Roofers, alleging that the roofing contractor failed to properly tarp a home after tearing off an old roof while installing a new one.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 5, 2014 the plaintiff's insured property sustained significant water damage in the amount of $84,007.46 because of the defendant's alleged negligence.

The plaintiff holds Gregg responsible because the defendant allegedly breached his duty to perform work in a good and workmanlike manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks damages of more than $25,000, plus interest, costs, attorney's fees, and all further relief that the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Richard D. Gerber and Matthew M. McArthur of Evans & Dixon LLC in St. Louis.
