Three passengers sue motorist who allegedly hit them

Car accident 01

ST. LOUIS — Three passengers are suing a motorist, alleging negligence.

Isabela Castillo-Trevino, Maria Castillo-Trevino and Maria Castillo filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Julia Sweeney alleging that she breached her duty to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner so as not to injure other people.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 16, 2013 they were passengers in a 2006 Chevrolet traveling west on Arsenal Street at its intersection with South Kingshighway when Sweeney carelessly attempted to make a left turn and collided with their vehicle. They allegedly sustained personal injuries, which caused them to experience medical expenses, pain, suffering and mental anguish.

The plaintiffs hold Sweeney responsible because she allegedly carelessly made an improper left turn into incoming traffic, failed to yield and failed to maintain careful lookout.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury; and seek damages of more than $25,000 for each plaintiff, costs of this action, and such other relief that the court may deem just and proper. They are represented by Patrick L. Mickey and Brad Elkin of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
