ST. LOUIS — An on-board attendant is suing an Amtrak operator, alleging an unsafe work environment.

Tanya Bond filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against National Railroad Passenger Corporation alleging that the Amtrak operator failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during the course of her employment with the defendant, she sustained injuries due to the car's violent shake and excessive vibrations. She allegedly suffered traumatic injuries to her shoulders that resulted in pain of body and mind, medical expenses, and lost of earnings.

The plaintiff holds National Railroad Passenger Corporation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn her of the unsafe conditions and the potential injury, failed to provide safe equipment and appliances for her work, and failed to adequately inspect, maintain and repair its cars.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks damages in excess of $25,000, costs expended for this action and any other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by D. Matthew Dreesen of Dreesen Law Firm LLC in Chesterfield.
