Medicredit accused of deceptive debt collection practices

Late 06

ST. LOUIS — A consumer is suing a debt collector, alleging unfair and deceptive debt collection practices.

Kathleen Hennessey filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Medicredit Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 16, 2017, she received a letter from the defendant attempting to collect a debt from her. The plaintiff holds Medicredit responsible because the defendant allegedly ignored her request to contact her through her lawyer by sending her a another letter on Oct. 31, 2017.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks actual and statutory damages, costs and attorney's fees, and all further relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by James W. Eason of The Eason Law Firm LLC in St. Louis.
