Passenger injured in accident accuses 2 drivers of negligence

Car accident 23

ST. LOUIS — A passenger is suing two motorists, alleging negligence.

Tracey Smith filed a complaint on Jan. 18 in the St. Louis 21st Judicial Circuit Court against Corey L. Stayton and Onslow L. Hampton, alleging that they failed to maintain their motor vehicles under proper control.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 10, 2017 she was a front-seat passenger in a motor vehicle driven by Hampton when Stayton struck the front passenger side of their vehicle. She sustained serious and permanent injuries to her right arm, neck, shoulders and back.

The plaintiff holds Stayton and Hampton responsible because they allegedly negligently drove their vehicles at a speed too fast for conditions, ran a stop sign and failed to maintain careful lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $25,000, plus costs of this action, and all further relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Carolyn G. Caruthers of Sauter Sullivan LLC in St. Louis.
