ST. LOUIS — A shopper is suing Schnucks Market Inc., a supermarket operator, alleging negligence.

Earlene Johnson filed a complaint on Jan. 31 in the St. Louis Circuit Court alleging that the supermarket operator breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 27, 2017 she was a customer at the Schnucks Market at Gravois and Grand in St. Louis City when she slipped and fell on a foreign object on the floor. She allegedly sustained injuries to her face and the bones, joints, muscles and nerves; and was caused to incur medical expenses of approximately $5,000.

The plaintiff holds Schnucks Marketsresponsible because the defendant allegedly negligently created a dangerous condition by allowing the foreign substance to remain on the floor and by not providing warnings around the area with a defective condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $25,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Alan S. Mandel of Mandel & Mandel LLP in St. Louis.
