Passenger allegedly grabbed steering wheel of car before accident

ST. LOUIS — A woman's insurance company is suing a passenger in her vehicle, alleging negligence.

American Family Insurance Company, a/s/o Anita Brown, filed a complaint on Feb. 7 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against Steve Johnson alleging that he negligently interfered with the operation of Brown's motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 5, 2016 while Brown was driving her vehicle Johnson reached over and negligently grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to leave the roadway and hit an embankment. In addition to damaging the car, the accident also left Brown with medical expenses, all of which American Family had to cover. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks damages in the amount of amount of $38,272, plus costs of this action, and all further relief that the court may deem just and proper. It is represented by Mark G. McMahon and Michael B. Hill of the Law Offices of Mark G. McMahon in Clayton.
