Motorist accused of negligence in 7th Street crash

Car accident 06

ST. LOUIS — A motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence.

Marquis Thomas filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the St. Louis 22nd Judicial Circuit Court against Teaira Berry-Joiner alleging that she breached her duty to exercise the highest degree of care while operating a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 27, 2017, he was in a motor vehicle traveling southbound on South Seventh Street when the defendant suddenly turned and crossed directly in front of his vehicle, causing him to collide with  the defendant's vehicle. He allegedly sustained painful and disabling injuries to his head, neck, back and both knees.

The plaintiff holds Berry-Joiner responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain careful lookout, failed to give notice of her intention to turn and failed to take evasive actions to avoid collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $25,000, costs of this action, and all other relief as the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Jared Gab of the Law Offices of Derald L. Gab in St. Louis.
