Coffee shop owner blames City of St. Louis for broken waterline

ST. LOUIS — A coffee shop owner is suing Renew & Refresh LLC, doing business as Restituo, and the City of St. Louis, waterline operators, citing alleged negligence.

Nicole McCormack filed a complaint on March 5 in the St. Louis Circuit Court alleging that the waterline operators breached their duties to exercise reasonable care in keeping the waterline free of defects.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 18, 2015 the plaintiff suffered water damage to her property, substantial loss of profits and was forced to close her coffee shop.

The plaintiff holds Renew & Refresh and the City of St. Louis responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect the water line for defects, failed to control the water flowing through it and failed to mitigate the damages due to the break in the main waterline.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks damages of more than $25,000, and all other relief that the court may find just and proper. She is represented by Bret Narayan of Narayan Attorneys at Law in St. Louis.
