Roundup maker, distributors face more suits

Law money 09

ST. LOUIS — Consumers are suing Monsanto Company, Osborn & Barr Holdings Inc., and others, Roundup manufacturer and distributors, alleging failure to warn and negligence.

Linda Prewitt, Keith Ash, Ron Bisbee Jr., and others filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in the St. Louis Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they falsely represented that Roundup is safe for humans and the environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that as a result of their exposure to Roundup, a herbicide that contains the active ingredient glyphosate, they were caused to develop multiple myeloma. As a result, they suffered pain, discomfort, economic hardship, and medical care and treatment expenses.

The plaintiffs hold Monsanto Company, Osborn & Barr Holdings Inc., and others responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently manufactured and distributed Roundup with full knowledge that it was dangerous and defective, and failed to provide adequate warnings and proper directions about the dangers associated with using it.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury; and seek compensatory and punitive damages of more than $25,000, plus interest, costs, and any further relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by James G. Onder, W. Wylie Blair and Mark E. Berns of Onder Law LLC in St. Louis.
